Ah, weddings. Few things bring tears to a woman's eyes as quickly as a wedding.
Weddings are about beauty, love, romance, and pre-nuptial agreements. I'm no lawyer, and can't even boast about having a lasting marriage, but I am in fact an expert for making one thing last, that is an up-do, long past the "I do"!
Pre-nups aside, weddings are emotional for most brides, partly because of all the stress endured
prior to the event. That much planning, no matter how big or small your wedding, is begging for at least one thing to go wrong. Trust me when I say you do not want that one thing wrong to be your hair. The one thing that last, sometimes longer than the marriage, are your photographs.

Hiring a photographer that you are comfortable with is the wisest way to invest in your big day,
and of course you will want to look your ultimate best!
I work and reside coastal, a very popular area for weddings, therefore I get a lot of calls from brides. Understandably brides often price shop, as they are working within a budget.
Insider tip-we understand and respect this, weddings are expensive. However, a lot of salons, unless they specialize in weddings, do not enjoy doing them! More often than not, the wedding party,if not the bride herself, come to us in extreme states of agitation. That reason alone is enough to make me run screaming myself! The stress I endure, is in fact part of the price I get for accommodating a woman's hair needs on her wedding day.
An ideal way to establish a relationship with a hairdresser that you desire for your wedding, is to start
very early. 6 months to a year is not an unusual time frame to start consulting with a salon. This gives
both you and the stylist enough time to prepare for the event, and guarantees a more productive, creative result.
It is optimum to have a 'run through' with the hair, just to make sure you both are in agreement. This is a great time to take photos. Hairdressers see 8-10 people a day, photographs are
great reminders! Better yet, involve her to style your hair for any pre-wedding professional photos.
If you are in fact having a location wedding and will not have the opportunity to meet your stylist prior
to the day, there are still ways to communicate with her. We love e-mail! E-mail gives us the opportunity to chat with you and learn a little bit more about your personality, and more importantly a way to send photographs.
Even a seasoned stylist can get nervous about styling a girls hair on the biggest, most photographed day of her life, especially if we haven't met you in person yet! Do not overlook this simple, no cost opportunity to communicate, even if you are local and already know your stylist.
Of course there are ways around this completely, that is to style your hair yourself. In a world
where non-traditional weddings have become the tradition, it may be that you will not require a
stylist at all on your big day.
The best piece of advice that I can give you on that, is know well in advance what you want the outcome to be, and allow time for it, just as you would if you were going to a salon.
Sometimes having an appointment at a salon is the last opportunity to exhale, and turn the attention from yourself, back onto yourself! Stylist are trained in absorbing your stress, consider this your last opportunity to exhale and relax before the activity of the events begin.
The most important thing to remember on your wedding day, is despite anything that can go wrong
(and it will), it is truly one of the most important days of your life!
You will be beautiful, because nothing can make a woman more beautiful than the look she has when she is gazing into the eyes of the man she loves...not even the most highly paid hair stylist in the world can give you that.
